My work is fueled by my fascination with the escalating trend in materialism which encourages consumption. I am obsessed with pop culture, social media, fashion, food and seductive promise of happiness and wealth they offer. This infactuation manifests as a repulsion/attraction dichotomy within my practice. Through my scrutiny of excessive consumption: wealth inequality, racial, and sexist stereotyping are no longer gloseed over, but insatiable consumer practices and my own discontent. Through my excessive collecting of internet images and thrifted store finds I transform and reassmeble these coveted objects and images, imbuing my organic abstract forms with kitschy feminine signifiers. These once functional and familiar materials goods are reclaimed to form new objects of value and meaning. Through this gathering process and recontruction I satsfy my materials desire, while creating a sense of empowerment and identity in this hyper-connected over consuming world.
