John Kitses paints natural and urban landscapes in watercolor, gouache and acrylic. After years of plein air painting while traveling, he now spends about half his time painting in his studio, on larger paper. He uses the spaces around and underneath highway overpasses to explore texture, light, and form. When not painting, he also illustrates album covers and newspaper articles, in a cartoonish style. Video graphics, animation, an photography are also regular pursuits.
