Eleanor Rahim was born in London. She obtained a Foundation Course in Art and Design and a BA (Hons) Graphic Design. Since relocating to NYC in 2007 Rahim has pursued her passion for art with study at the Art Students League of New York, Grand Central Atelier and Chelsea Classical Studio. My abstract and figurative art is the result of classical study combined with fast gestural movement. The human figure with its proportional and balanced structure is the inspiration and foundation of my work. I am wondrous of the human spirit within the mechanism of the human body. The urban environment in which I live, is further inspiration. The figure is abstracted, freeing me from representational constraint. I work intuitively, not quite knowing what will emerge. The work takes on a life of it’s own, a version of reality, stimulating the viewer’s imagination and allowing for their participation in the creative process. Such collaboration is my reward.
