I create tiny, hand-pieced works using traditional sewing and beading techniques. Through reduction and simplified representation, I seek to capture the essential elements of my subject matter. The small works invite the viewer to pause, come closer, and reflect on their own connections to the iconic images. These structures are a part of my day-to-day experience, but they are also tied to specific moments in my life, to my own search for what Camus refers to as "those images in whose presence my heart first opened." My work is infused with a sense of memory and the past. We often hang on to souvenirs that remind us of events and places. I am intrigued by memory, and how we remember. Why are some events so vivid while others fade or disappear completely?
