My process has a child‐like sensibility much like exploring building blocks. After making many pieces, separate components come together. Layering of materials, surface manipulation and utilizing interior and exterior motifs explore physical space. I structure my work through layering surfaces, rough object, incorporating symbols of refinement and the use of common craft material to explore ideas of oppositions and conjure a sense of history.
A place I draw multiple forms of inspiration from is the urban landscape of my home, the southern part of the city of Atlanta. The neighborhoods that are nestled up close and line the area I find fascinating, a visual dairy of sorts. The structures speak of the past, of neighborhoods once grand that now stand in ruin.
